This is 102 wooden cubes, 2 cm each, in six different colours, supplied in a polybag: the plain version of the EDX colour cubes without the activity cards. It is the right choice if you already have activities in mind, or if you are topping up a classroom set. Cubes like these are the workhorse of early maths teaching because they make quantity physical. Counting them, grouping them and taking some away turns basic operations into something a child does with their hands, and sorting by colour builds the classification skills that sit underneath all of it. Picking up and placing 2 cm cubes is also useful fine motor practice in its own right. Made from non-toxic wood, packed at 21 x 13 x 4.2 cm, and suited to children from five years. Warning: choking hazard, small parts, not for children under three. EDX products are tested for compliance with EN71, ASTM and CPSIA standards.
